As a kid, I was lucky enough to see some of my favorite authors in person. Now, as an adult, I love seeing the joy and passion of young learners as we read, draw, and make stories together! These experiences can empower both children and adults to explore, learn, and connect more deeply with books. With each workshop, I aim to inspire kids and kids-at-heart to tell their own stories, and give drawing a try (yes, even if you can’t draw a stick figure!).

SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES, and MUSEUMS

Ashlyn is an experienced workshop teacher. She’s been teaching workshops and doing school visits across the United States and Canada for the last decade. Her curriculum has been featured on 826Digital, and has even been implemented in the Inglewood School district!

Readings are usually about 30 minutes to an hour, with a drawing demonstration! She’s done readings in small classroom settings, to large multi-class assemblies.

Longer workshops cover more specific topics, and usually run about 1-2 hours. If you have students interested in making their own comics, reach out for more information and we can build something together!

She’s done workshops and readings for Film2Future, 826LA, Hammer Museum, Norton Simon Musem, many Los Angeles Public libraries, Portland Book Festival, Booktopia, and many, many elementary schools. She even gave a workshop in the woods once.

Virtual?

Yes! Ashlyn loves doing virtual zoom visits.

Ashlyn even ran a workshop with Barbie on her Youtube Channel!

Ashlyn shows kids (and Barbie) how to make a simple animated flipbook.

Colleges

Ashlyn’s also lectured at colleges, including Sheridan College, Calarts, Loyola Marymount, and Laguna College of Art and Design. She loves empowering students to the ins and outs of the animation industry, while striving to show students how they can have a long, fulfilling career.
